From BMW X5 to Used Honda Odyssey

How did I go from a new BMW X5 to a used Honda Odyssey?  First, I test drove the BMW.  My response was “whatever.”  Then, I test drove the Odyssey.  It was amazing!  It called to me.  No, it sang to me.  It had every feature a mother could want, including a bottle cooler.  I’m surprised I didn’t start lactating the way they played on my hormones.  (I did start dripping while buying groceries the other day.  Poor cashier.  They milk started to spew just as I handed over my credit card.)  Next, I thought about all the money I could save with a used Odyssey.  And I wouldn’t have to worry about throw up and messes because it would already be a mess.  Also, in some perverted way, I think if I save enough money I can retire earlier.  Doesn’t make sense, I know.  So, now we have narrowed it down to a used Odyssey.  Still looking for the best buy.  FYI – I test drove the Toyota Sienna and didn’t think much of it.

On to picking the right school.  Any one have thoughts on Montessori schools?  Are they worth the expense?

The Car Debate Continues

I appreciate all the suggestions for the best baby vehicle.  The debate continues.  Last weekend we drove the BMW X5, the Lexis RX 350, and Mercedes ML.  Yes, we set our sights pretty high.  We decided to get a little more practical and since we have two dogs, I thought of the Outback, of course.  We test drove the Subaru Outback during a lunch break.  I thought, “Whew, this is it!”  My husband waited until we were having lunch to confess that he hate it.  Something about it hurting his back.  More like the 4 cylinder engine hurt his ego.  Apparently, he is in love with the X5.

So far, this weekend we’ve driven the Honda Odyssey.  Sadly, I’m in love.  From the outside, they are quite ugly, but the inside is like home on wheels.  Maybe it reminds me of myself.  Since having my first baby, I have looked a bit…frumpy.  The Odyssey speaks to me and understands my frumpiness.  It says, “It’s okay.  We’ll be frumpy and have fun together.  You could have four more babies and there’s room for everyone!”  Maybe it’s just me.  I don’t think all those baby hormones have left my system yet.  Tomorrow we test out the Jeep.  A potential compromise?

Other updates: the cornstarch on the diaper rash is working well and smiles are starting to really mean smiles, as opposed to spit up.

What is the best baby vehicle?

Odyssey? Hmm. Yukon? Ehh. Escalade? Eeek! What is happening to me?! How can a 10 pound baby be the cause of so much stuff? Stroller, pack n’ play, car seat. Since the dogs can’t go in the trunk, we need a bigger vehicle. I hate car-shopping. Well, I hate shopping in general. I have no patience for it. I end up making important decision based on frivolous things. I would buy a house because I liked the front door. I opted to take my husband old phone so I did not have to look for a new one. I also have his old computer. I can’t even tell all those big SUVs apart. I thought I was looking at an Infinity the other day and then discovered it was a Toyota. So, what is the best baby vehicle? What should I test drive? How can I get the best deal? And how do I outsmart the dealer? Is there an outfit I can wear that says, “I’m not going to pay alot for this vehicle.” I miss my Jeep already. Sigh.
